Terms of use

These terms govern your use of HitMasters (hit-masters.com), the music trading card game. By creating an account or playing, you accept them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

The service

HitMasters is free. Nothing in it can be bought with real money.

The game is in its launch phase: it’s provided as is, with no guarantee of continuous availability or freedom from errors. Its rules, balance and features may change, and it may be interrupted for maintenance.

Your account

  • You must be at least 15 to create an account: that’s the age from which French law lets you consent on your own to the processing of your personal data.
  • One account per person. Your account is personal: it can’t be lent, shared or sold.
  • Your email address must be valid: it’s used to verify your account and reset your password.
  • Choose a strong password and keep it secret. You’re responsible for what happens on your account; let us know right away if someone else uses it.
  • If you log in with Google, access to your account also depends on your Google account and Google’s terms.

Royalties and records

  • Royalties, the in-game currency, and records have no monetary value. They can’t be bought or exchanged for real money.
  • Selling, buying or trading royalties, records or accounts outside the game, for money or anything else, is forbidden.
  • They don’t belong to you: you get a personal right to use them, in the game and for as long as your account exists. We may correct, remove or restore them in case of a bug, an error or abuse.
  • A record’s rarity (its certification) follows the track’s popularity on Deezer and can change with it.
  • Pack contents are drawn at random; the pack odds are published and open to everyone.

Market and trades

  • The auction market and trades between friends unlock at level 5, with a verified email address.
  • A won auction is final. A 5% tax is taken from the final price and paid by the seller; royalties added to a trade are taxed at the same rate.
  • Payment for an abnormal sale (a price far from usual sales) may be held while it’s checked.
  • It’s forbidden to manipulate prices, bid up your own auctions, move records or royalties between accounts you control, or exploit a market bug. Possible sanctions: cancelled transactions, removal of items obtained, a market ban, suspension or deletion of the accounts involved.

Rules of conduct

The following are forbidden:

  • cheating and deliberately exploiting a bug (report it instead);
  • bots, scripts and any automation of the game, and any attempt to get around technical limits or disrupt the service;
  • a username that’s offensive, hateful, misleading or impersonates someone else.

We may change a username, restrict some features, or suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, in proportion to how serious the breach is. You can challenge a decision by writing to the contact address.

Music content

Track information, previews and cover art are provided by Deezer, credited wherever its data appears. They remain the property of their rights holders (artists, labels, publishers).

They’re only shown and played within the game: 30-second previews are streamed and never downloadable, and cover art is shown unaltered. You may not extract, copy or reuse them elsewhere.

HitMasters isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Deezer. Artist and label names and the trademarks mentioned belong to their owners.

Liability

Because the service is free and in its launch phase, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law, including for interruptions, lost progress or rule changes. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the game evolves. If there’s a significant change, you’ll be told in the game or by email before it takes effect. If you keep playing afterwards, you accept it; otherwise, you can have your account deleted.

Deleting your account

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time by writing to contact@hit-masters.com. This erases your progress, royalties and records, with no compensation; market and trade history is anonymized.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by French law. If there’s a dispute, write to us first so we can look for an amicable solution; failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the rules that protect consumers.
