Slade

Known for their outrageous stage outfits, stomping rhythms, and stadium-sized melodies, Slade dominated the UK Official Charts and laid the blueprint for hard rock, glam metal, and Britpop. Formed in the industrial West Midlands, the classic rock lineup of Noddy Holder, Dave Hill, Jim Lea, and Don Powell became a global cultural phenomenon. Exploding in 1971, Slade achieved 17 consecutive Top 20 hits and six UK Number One singles, defining the sound and aesthetic of the 1970s music era. This channel explores their roaring discography, from their gritty roots to their chart-topping golden era and massive MTV-driven 1980s resurgence. Their raw rock 'n' roll influenced heavyweights across genres, inspiring Kiss, Cheap Trick, The Clash, Oasis, and Quiet Riot, who brought Slade's songwriting to a new generation of heavy metal fans.
